From Farm to Table – How WEATZERO® is Made

The Farm: Where Tradition Meets Sustainability

In rural India, millet farming is more than just agriculture; it’s a way of life. Generations of farmers have passed down wisdom on the best varieties for each soil type, timing planting with monsoon patterns, and drying and storing techniques that keep the millet’s nutrition intact.

These farms aren’t monocultures; they are biodiversity hotspots where multiple millet varieties flourish side by side:

  • Pearl millet: robust with a hearty, nutty flavor
  • Finger millet: rich in calcium and nutrition
  • Foxtail millet: naturally sweet and versatile
  • Little millet: delicate in texture
  • Browntop millet: fine and light quality
  • Barnyard millet: perfect for fluffy baked goods
  • Proso millet: mild flavour
  • Kodo millet: adds subtle nutty notes

Each variety contributes unique qualities to our blends, combining tradition with sustainability for wholesome, nutritious millet products.

Millets: The Sustainable Grain with a Heart

Millets need 70% less water than wheat, thrive in poor soils, and actively improve soil health. Naturally pest-resistant, they reduce the need for chemicals. Their fast maturation allows multiple harvests yearly, boosting food security for farming families.

What truly matters? The farmers behind millets deeply understand quality. They know that rushing drying impacts flavor and that proper storage prevents rancidity. These grains are respected, not just crops, but a daily sustenance for their families.

Choosing millets means supporting sustainable agriculture, better food, and traditions rooted in care.

The Journey: Quality at Every Step

Our carefully selected millets begin their journey with one goal: preserving nature’s goodness.

Step 1: Selection

We partner with suppliers who know that not all millets are equal. From variety and soil to drying and storage methods, every factor impacts the flour’s final flavor and nutrition.

Step 2: Processing

Using gentle technology, we remove inedible outer layers while preserving nutrient-rich inner grains. This happens in a dedicated gluten-free facility, eliminating cross-contamination risks.

Step 3: Blending and Packaging

Our millets arrive at our Australian co-manufacturing site for final blending and packaging, bringing WEATZERO® from field to flour in your kitchen.

Australian Potential: Growing a Sustainable Future

Australia is home to incredible millet varieties like white French millet, Japanese millet, and native types cherished by First Nations communities. While food-grade processing is still developing here, this is an exciting frontier we’re actively working to develop.

We’re excited to collaborate with Australian farmers and researchers to cultivate millet varieties uniquely adapted to local conditions. This supports regional farming communities while delivering the amazing nutrition and sustainability benefits millets are known for.

WEATZERO® is more than a flour company. It’s about building new, resilient food systems that benefit farmers, consumers, and the planet.
